[Scan-DC] Anybody hear this? ;-)

I know why SkyFox (News 5 helicopter as you call it) has been flying around
over G-burg the past few days. The past two days straight it has hovered
directly above my house (and boy do I mean directly!). When it did this, I
simply flipped my scanner to 161.730 MHz. This is the frequency SkyFox uses
to talk with the producers at the news desk. Anyway, both days they were
taking live shots of kids sled riding at the hill at Racheal Carson
Elementary School. They do this because right before they go to commercial
break, they like to show "teasers", and during big storms like ours, most
"teasers" are kids sled riding or snow boarding.
Anyway, to answer your question about I270, the second day the helicopter
was over my house, when it was finished, the pilot was instructed to fly
over southbound 270 to investigate a collision.
73,
Bill (KB3ITA)

I didn't hear it but the F-15 went right over my house (as they always seem
to). Thanks to the tips from Justin I am beginning to learn to identify
the fighters. The other thing I figured out that helps me is that the F-15
have wings about 2/3rd as wide as the nose to tail distance, whereas the
F-14 wings are almost the same proportion as the nose-to-tail. If you know
your planes, this is probably obvious, but might be helpful for a beginner
like me.
The news 5 helicopter has been over I270 for most of yesterday and today.
