Montgomery County Police officers from the 6th  District are continuing to 
search for a missing Derwood man, considered suicidal, who escaped Shady 
Grove Adventist Hospital last night.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., officers responded to Shady Grove Adventist 
Hospital, 9901 Medical Center Drive, to assist in searching for a patient 
who escaped.  John Gant was waiting a psychiatric evaluation because he had 
expressed suicidal intentions and is suffering from a Bi-polar disorder.  
Mr. Gant does not have his medications with him.  He lives in the 18000 
block of Muncaster Road, in Derwood, and has not returned home.

John Paul Gant is a white male, age 34, 5?10?, 120-140 pounds, reddish brown 
hair, full beard, and glasses.  He was last seen heading towards Key West 
Avenue wearing a green hospital gown.

Anyone with information regarding John Gant is asked to call the Montgomery 
County Police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000.
