In the late hours of 15 Dec into the early hours of 16 Dec, CG Station Curtis 
Bay was working w/two patrol craft; a 41-ft utility boat (41-359) and 21-ft 
utlity boat (21-005). CG 41-359 was making the rounds of marinas in the 
northern Chesapeake Bay. The 21-ft boat departed the Curtis Bay yard around 
11:15 PM for a patrol in the Inner Harbor and Baltimore Harbor areas. They 
reported some vibration in their nr # 2 outboard but were continuing on 
patrol.

In the 1000 hour the Cutter James Rankin (WLM-555, Baltimore) reported 
departing pier W-2 at the CG Yard enroute to the Choptank River on a Aid to 
Navigation (ATON) patrol. On the way to the Choptank River, in the area of 
Flood Point, the James Rankin conducted a man overboard drill with a 
simulated a small boat pick-up. 

Also in the 1000 hour, CG 49-428 (49-ft utility boat) depated the CG Yard 
enroute to Cape May, NJ and requested that Activities Baltimore assume their 
radio guard. This is a scheduled deployment for the 49-428 to fill a gap in 
utility boat assets at the CG Station at Cape May.
