[Scan-DC] Sad thing

I heard this this morning. I will keep it very vague out of repspect.

St. Mary's County.

Had 2 separate motor vehicle accidents back to back in the same area.
Trooper helos called to both, 2 & 7 if I remember correctly. Firefighters
respond to both scenes. Police ran tag of vehicle at accident "A". Come to
find out it had Volunteer firefighters tags. Firefighter they belong to was
working accident "B". Driver of vehicle DOA.

All personnel involved did an excellent job of keeping names off of the
radio. But family member driving Firefighter's vehicle appeared to be a
"very" close relation. Fire Dept and Police provided escorts to family
members for most of morning.

I spent quite a good deal of time this morning thinking about just how much
these volunteers give. Hearing something like this, especially when its
local, gives me a heck of a newfound level of repect for these folks.
