David,
Concur with (in)ability to receive trunked systems from NoVa and beyond.
I live in Chancellor and can only receive the conventional channels from
smaller jurisdictions like Arlington or Alexandria when I stand on the
roof, chant like a Gregorian monk when the moon is full and only when
the wind is out of the north.
:-)
Seriously, though, I do pick up the control channel from Anne Arundel
and Calvert Counties as well as a booming signals from Montgomery
convemtional fire and US Park PD. PG Fire (South dispatch (F7)-494.6625)
comes in good most nights. AACO Fire dispatch (154.010) is also good
most times. MPD and DCFD are scratchy but will have a good day every now
and then. And I use the -78o issue back o'the set antenna, too.
To my disappointment, Fairfax conventional channels (fire) are hard to
pick up. I've given up on them and don't even know if they're
simulcasted anymore. Can anyone advise of FXFD?
