[Scan-DC] SAME programming

Since the forecast says that we could get some unpleasant weather later
this week, I wanted to take a moment to tell you about something I've added
to the Capitol Hill Monitors webpage.
As many of you probably know, Tandy (along with many other manufacturers)
sell weather radios that are SAME capable. In a nutshell, one can think of
this as a specific selcall that's sent out which alerts users in a specific
area about a weather event. However, evidently there's a trick to setting
up Tandy weatherradios that some managers and store owners may not know
about. I managed to locate a file off the NWS page that details how to do
this; and I've placed the link on our scanners page, under the Scanner
Specific Pages, Radio Shack models.
In addition, I've placed a link, in the conventional frequency areas, of
the SAME codes for each of the areas we cover (DC, Md, Del and Va). Each
of these pages come off the NWS web page as well. Each page that covers
these areas has their own link.
Hopefully there will be some that will find this useful information.
We are always on the lookout for other pages with scanner-related stuff.
And as a side note, you don't need to be a Capitol Hill Monitors member to
use the pages- they're there for everyone's use.
73s and stay safe....Mike
