So I'm driving home on MD 260 (which is a NW-SE directioned road). I
see this large aircraft coming right towards me (i.e. from the NE
heading SW). It's not on a flight pattern I'm accustomed to so I
pull over.
The aircraft has three landing lights on, and two lights on each of
the wings. It's very dark, but based on the location of the landing
lights, it looks like it was a B2-Stealth. The nose gear landing
light was where the wings meet (i.e. the cockpit of a B2) and there
were no tail lights, i.e. I couldn't see a tail of any sort.
I should also note it was incredibly quiet. Really quiet.
I have seen C-141s on a approach around here moving East to West, but
this was a bit different. I've also never heard a 141 as quiet as
this. My only other tought was a C-17, but the shapes and the
locations of the lights really confused me.
Anyway, landed about 6:27 PM EST. Not sure if anyone caught it
listening to the tower and can identify what it was.
