Sound of Cracking Windshield Alarms Residents

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - The sound of a loud crack Wednesday morning put
residents and police on edge, but turned out not to be a shooting. 
The noise turned out to be the sound of a cracking windshield. 
Montgomery County Police tell WTOP a driver at gas station near the Rio
Shopping Center tried to defrost her windshield a little too quickly in the
cold weather. 
When the driver turned on the high heat, the winshield cracked, causing the
popping sound.
