Folks:
Here is your chance to become a Virginia Fire Network
Dispatcher. All you need to do is when you hear a working
fire, MVA with Trap, MCI, PD news related story or something
that would make CNN simply send out an email. They like 5
pages a month and lets face it, in this area this is not
hard and they are not hard on that. VFN is a paging
network that folks (to include media) subscribe to to hear
about fire/EMS incidents the VFN area is all of Virginia and
they are affiliated with TAC 9 which in my mind is the
leader in paging services in the U.S.
What you get is all the pages either to your email or pager
that a subscriber would pay for, you get for free. Its a
great way to get the heads up on breaking news long before
CNN or even Scan-DC
Here is what to do
initially send incidents to the tipster email
([email protected]) and also contact Jason Thurston
via email ( [email protected]).
FOlks, this is a good deal and the work is not onerous and
the VFN and tac 9 folks are good guys. The more dispatchers
we have in NOVA, the more incidents we will page out and the
better off all us scanner folks will be.
