Dumb question for my Washington DC area friends......

Had there not been so many shot in such a small area over the course of the
first 12-18 hours is it possible that these shootings occuring throughout
the region might have never been connected?  I was watching TV the other day
and wondered that.

  They would have been connected eventually, perhaps not as quickly.  Aside
from any ballistics, there are other similarities that would have made at
least one detective scratch his or her chins.
