Last night, before the PWC shooting, I heard CH 5 Germantown dispatch a unit
to check the Michaels parking lot at the Milestone Center for a 'suspicious'
white Ford Van occupied 1x by a white male that was observed going back &
forth inside the van.
A beat car and a 9Tango unit (ERT) member went along. Shortly there after,
the 9Tango unit requested that another Tango unit meet him on Ch7. While
listening in, I heard him asked the other unit if his 800mhz was working. He
advised it was. However, the other unit said his was not. He went on to ask
the other Tango unit if "CP" (command Post) would be interested in a Code 2
male (homeless) in a white ford van reading hunting magazines in the parking
lot. The Tango unit said "absolutely!" and stated he would call the CP for
the unit since his 800 system was not working..No weapons were found from
what I heard.
My question is this, is MCPD using 800 right now? or only for TAC units? or
possibly the Feds gave the TAC units 800 radios to communicate with FEDs and
other agencies to consolidate traffic?
Just wondering.
