[Scan-DC] Dubya Visits Baltimore, 2 Oct 02

All,

POTUS visited downtown Baltimore this evening (1600-1800 EDT) for a fund 
raiser for our Republican gubernatorial candidate. The vent was held in one 
of the large hotels in the Inner Harbor area.

There wasn't much to listen to. I had all the normal Secret Service VHF/UHF 
freqs in the scanner and not a one was active. There were just a few bursts 
of encrypted stuff on a couple of the Baltimore FBI channels. No clear speech 
at all.

There were a couple of Baltimore City PD helos (Fox 1 & 2) patrolling the 
area (123.025). I also noted a couple of Coast Guard small craft (21 & 22 ft) 
working with Coast Guard Activities Baltimore (157.100 & 157.175). I'm 
assuming since the hotel was in the Inner Harbor area that they were 
patrolling the harbor area in support of the visit.

A disappointing bust as far as listening is concerned. But, personally I'm 
glad to see that the Feds appear to have learned some lessons and are keeping 
good OPSEC and COMSEC practices.
