Can someone please explain in detail how to modify it? I don't see any
switch in the batter pack area.

I saw this at the Strongsignals message boards, courtesy of Jeff
Goldman...
--------------
Dave Raley has successfully modified the Uniden/Bearcat BC245XLT to have
600 channels, ala the Pro-94A's 2 sets of channels. By toggling a switch in
the battery compartment of the radio, you can switch between 2 sets of 300
channels. Recently, Dave unveiled a similar mod for the SC200 (2 x 200
channels).
Dave and his dad run the Freq Fan Club (racescanners.com) and
audio-modify all handheld scanners, plus they have high capacity NiMH packs
and (somewhat) fast chargers for those sealed packs.
-----------------------
I just checked the website and it's not listed there as yet, so
this might be brand new. There's also a link to the freq fan club
on our scanners page at the CHM website, so keep an eye there for
availability (or drop them an email)
