All,
Just an interesting observation noted during this evening's landing by Air
Force 2.
A Marine C-9 from Cherry Point (Lobo) was inbound for landing at Andrews and
was advised by the tower that there was a ramp freeze in effect which would
limit their ability to transit the taxiways and runways after landing.
Right after that Air Force 2 announced to the tower that they were inbound
and had the C-9 in sight. At the same time there were two other aircraft in
the pattern at Andrews, both of them in proximity to Air Force 2.
Normally, when a ramp freeze in effect for Air Force 1, all aircraft in the
area of Andrews are shuttled off to holding patterns away from the airfield
and the airfield, is in effect, closed to all other traffic until Air Force 1
lands, deplanes its passangers and they have left the tarmac area.
Apparently this is not the case with Air Force 2.
I thought this was an interesting "look" into the VIP pecking order.
