Let me correct my mistake. According to
http://www.panix.com/clay/scanning/frequencies/nycta.shtml , the correct
frequency for the NYCTA police in Queens is not 160.995 MHz, but 160.695
MHz. Sorry for the mistake. I obviously don't know my boroughs, either.
Whatever the freq and whatever the location, it does come in during
episodes of tropospheric ducting in the summer.
