  Did I miss anything? :.) This is the kind of question that the
new page I constructed is for...
===========
anyone have any words of wisdom on the bearcat 780? i was thinking of
buying one, to replace my battered bearcat 150b. i wanted to move up in the
world...
also, any suggestions where to shop for scanners in the northern PG
county general area? i'm new to the area and dont know where to go
looking, other than the internet.
=============
  Unfortunatly, Cory, there isn't anywhere around here to buy
a 780- or any other scanner, for that matter (except perhaps
HRO in Woodbridge, Va). However, there's LOTS of places for
you to go to get information on the 780.

  First, go here:

  http://henney.com/chm/links/scanners.htm

  That's the CHM scanner page. From there, go to Mailing Lists
and select 'Trunktrackers'. You'll be taken to the Strongsignals
web site, from which mailing lists for all the trunktrackers can be
linked.
  Mailing lists are the best way to find out about a radio- after
all, who better to tell you about a radio than 1 who uses it?
  Then, once again on the CHM Scanner page, go to the bottom and
select 'Strongsignals BC780XLT Info Center' (The first 780
site that's in the list is unfortunatly dead). That takes
you to a site that links LOTS of 780 info.
  As for who sells at the best price- that's a good question for
the mailing lists, as well as here. Guaranteed, tho, you will
find more opinions than you know what to do with :.))
  According once again to the links on the CHM Scanner page,
Bob Parnass wrote a review on this rx in the 3/2001 Monitoring
Times. I would suggest, if interested, going there and ordering
a reprint.
  In addition, EHam.net has a few reviews of the US version at:

  http://www.eham.net/reviews/products/8

  It's a fine radio, from what I hear. Lots of software available
for it, too- see the software link on the Scanner page for more
info. And I'll bet you get lots of opinions on the mailing lists
for this, too...73s  Mike
