Pursuit on 495.3375 (around 2140hrs). Paul unit pulled over Black Conquest
vehicle on Woodfield, plates came back unreg'd. Driver fled on woodfield rd
(all over it) at 85mph. Pursuit stopped at 270/370 per Car 4. MSP high
tailed it up 270 to assist. Some SAT units saw the suspect PIC at MVA and Rt
355 (chase was already called off and some cops where ticked!!)
Approx 10min later, units responded to a PIC at MVA and Prospect, same
vehicle sped up, chase ensured again. This time for PIC hit/run. High rate
of speed all over Gaithersburg and Derwood. Finally concluding at Washington
Grove and Ridge Rd. with a G'burg city and MCPD car was rammed and trooper 8
was enroute. Everything is 10-41 and kosher for now.
Dispatcher could not located the exact location on the 2nd go -around of the
chase, since the pursuing units ended up on an old dirt rd and didn't know
where (bad feeling for a dispatcher, I know, drove me nuts when I was one..)
Anyway, some of the talk around chatter has be amusing. The cops are
frustrated that they had to terminate the chase intially and only to follow
at the 'speed limit' (resulting chatter led a MCP officer to comment, "I am
doing the speed limit on 270, MSP just passed code 3..I guess THEY can do
that and we can't... (resulting into a PIC anyway later at MVA / 355) then
had to re-chase him (and possibly giving the suspect a new found 'no fear'
bravado.)
One of the better chases I have heard in a while. Just wish MCP wasn't so PC
about not chasing. Would be better if MCP has a helo. Takes some time to
spin up Trooper 8 in the hanger in Olney.
