[Scan-DC] DMV Enforcement Police

Good afternoon.  A first for me.  While driving on Rt. 17 today between Rt. 
50 and I-66, I drove pass four DMV enforcement officers that had set up cones 
and I guess where checking passing vehicles for inspection stickers and dead 
tags.  I had never seen this unit before.  Officers wore dark blue uniforms, 
with "Police" on their baseball caps. Their shoulder patches resembled State 
Police patches but with different insignia. The officers drove both marked 
and unmarked units with blue lights rather than amber as with the motor 
assistance officers.  The marked unit was white/blue with "DMV Enforcement" 
on the panels. I could not tell if they were armed, but I presumed so. 

I assume they are VA State DMV Enforcement officers, but I have never heard 
of, or seen such a unit.  They could have been Faquier County. Is this a new 
function, anybody have any history or radio information on these activities?
