Saturday 9:15 AM

Good morning. Having just moved into a new house and have limited access to
my PC and scanning equipment. I am now just reading through the 400 e-mails
collected in my AOL account. I wanted to address some of the issues raised
in this series of e-mails and those concerning a change in DEFCON levels.

I am involved in security and counterterrorism matters at a fairly high level
here in the federal government in Washington. I know of no general change in
current threat levels. The government and the nation is still at the Yellow
condition under Gov. Ridge's Homeland Security Threat Advisory System. As
many of you have read in the newspapers, the FBI has some concerns about
threats to the U.S. financial system especially in the Northeast states.
Again, no specific information.

Ron, I see no reason why you cannot resume your postings. I have always
known you to be very responsible. I'll try to keep the groups posted with
any changes with information that I can safety share in this forum.

Regards,

John Nash
