I think that everyone is getting bent out of shape on this one for no
reason.
Al is not asking that everyone pay $10, or that you pay $10 for every goup
that you belong to. All Al is asking is that if you can (and are willing
to) help out, then please do so. If you can't, no problem. He has not
threatened to kick any individual, list or site off of the service if you
don't pay. That is why it is called a "donation", not a fee. There is no
need to move the list just because he asked for a donation. Those that can,
should help out, those that can't, don't worry about it.
I can tell you that Al's servers were running at more than 100% of the rated
bandwidth for the past few months, and he has spent a lot of his hard-earned
green ($$$) recently paying for an increase in bandwidth. We're not talking
a few dozen dollars a month for a high speed cable connection...he had to
pay over $10,000 for the latest T3 upgrade. Compared to that, what is $10.
I really don't understand the comotion over this one. Is everyone really so
cheap that they are absolutely refusing to donate? A dime? A dollar? 10
dollars? More? What is the big deal. Again, you don't have too, so if you
can't there is no reason to get bent out of shape over it and definitely no
need to move the list.
