You'd be lucky to get any farther than a mile with an FRS, despite what
the manufacturers say. I admit, there was that one lucky hiker who, lying
injured well up on the side of Mt. Hood OR in the summer of 2000, was
heard by kids in McMinnville OR eighty miles away. That is my favorite
FRS story.
