I guess you did walk, since there weren't no other way
to get there. They closed the Parkway, I-395, 110, and
just about every other arterial leading there that wasn't
already closed by the snow. What a mess! A radio amateur
was telling guys on our repeater how bad the traffic was
jammed up on the 14th Street bridge about 5 or 10 minutes
before the plane struck. Lucky timing for him!
I have some tapes of Alexandria and mutual aid (FMARS 2)
chatter during that incident around here somewhere. They
were calling Loudoun County for assistance, with response
times measured in the hours!
Yes, and then that Metrorail engineer wrapped that train
around a piling. Like they really needed two mass causalty
incidents at the same time. That certainly used up D.C.'s
quota of trouble for a long while.
