This is a forwarded message from the CADXA reflector.
The description and the photos are no exaggeration of what lightning can and will do if you get hit. Some that I have talked to just tell me they have lightning arestors and they feel safe with that.
Look at the photos and see if maybe that is what your equipment would look like if you got hit by lightning. I have been there and experienced what happens.

> We are alive and well but lightning struck our aluminum pole which was the center support of our Carolina Windom. The strike continued through our pool ground (under construction) and took out a chunk off the back of our house, lanai, a couple chunks off the cement walkway around the pool and went through the ground and took out a bunch of electronics. Internet router/modem, rotor control box, 2 - ICOM 7300's, 3 desktop computers, ICOM PS 125 power supply, micro keyer II, security camera system, 4 port battery trickle charger and ???? Still finding stuff. Looks like the 7600 and 756 pro III survived and the TH3, 6m beam and tower are OK. Never touched the tower. A crazy thing that it came through the ground. The chunk that was taken out of the back of the house is behind the radio shack and a receptacle which a power strip was plugged into the wall was charred and the plug was forced out by the strike. We have filed a claim with the insurance company and an adjuster was here today. An electrician is scheduled for next week and our well keeps tripping the reset switch. Lots to do and not sure when we will be back on the air. See attached photos. The last photo is the equipment which is no longer working. Ann WA1S
