I'm no computer guru but as I understand it, you can't really transfer installed 
programs from one computer to another.  There are programs claiming to do it but 
I would be careful. Easeus leaps to mind.  Many reports that this is a scam or 
worse.

If you just want to transfer data files (docs, etc) there are many ways.  A 
network connection, cloud storage, thumb drive, temporarily install the laptop 
drive in the desktop if it has a suitable slot.  If you want to clone a disk, 
Macrium Reflect or Minitool Shadow Maker are freebies.  But again, I doubt you 
could run programs from a clone in another computer.

I use older thrift shop computers and install SSDs that I clone, but these 
replace the existing HD.  If there's room, I use the SSD for the OS and convert 
the HD to data storage.
