Back in my RV days I used to detour to visit tall towers when I could. I've seen
NAA from outside the gate.  I tried to talk my way in but no luck.  I did talk
my way into the NASA Guaymas tracking station once.  When I was in Ft Collins I
called up NBS and asked for a tour of WWV.  They informed me that they didn't
give tours, but some contractors were doing some work on site, and the gate was
unlocked so as long as I didn't get out of my car I could come in.  The WWVL
antenna was rather impressive.

But the biggest was the KVLY tower near Fargo.  When I was there the sign said
it was 2048 feet tall.  This seems to vary in the literature.  I first saw if
from 20 miles away.  At the time it was the tallest man-made structure on
Earth.  I was erected in 30 days!
