Tim Duffy, K3LR
Tim has been an active amateur radio operator for 50 years –starting as WN3SZX in 1972. He has hosted 155 different ham radio operatorsfrom around the world as part of the K3LR Multi operator radio sport contestefforts since 1992. Tim has built a 13 tower station with 11 operatingpositions. He was the ARRL Atlantic Division Technical Achievement award winnerin 1998. Tim has been the moderator of the Hamvention Antenna forum for 36years. K3LR serves as chairman of Contest University (14 years), the DaytonContest Dinner (28 years), chairman of the Top Band Dinner – as well ascoordinator of the Contest Super Suite (36 years) in Dayton during the yearlyHamvention. He is founder and moderator of the popular RFI Reflector (RFI at contesting.com) since 1999. Timserves on the board of directors of the World Wide Radio Operators Foundation(WWROF) as Chairman and is President Emeritus of the Radio Club of America(RCA). Tim is multiyear President of the Mercer County Amateur Radio Club(W3LIF/W3JTV). K3LR serves as a Director on the ARRL Foundation board.Tim was elected to the CQ Contest Hall of Fame in 2006. He was honoredwith the prestigious Barry Goldwater Amateur Radio service award by the RCA in2010. Tim was honored in 2016 with the YASME Excellence award. K3LRwas also honored as Hamvention Amateur of the Year in 2015 by the DaytonAmateur Radio Association. Tim is the Chief Executive Officer of DXEngineering. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.
