Wes,

The High Solar Indices of SFI 126 and SSN 128 12/26/21 is creating high D absorption, and increasing the EMUF. killing the 40m SN Path even to the East Coast.

But, the 1412 mile 40m path 6 min BEFORE SN QSO on FT8 may be a testimony to FT8 under these solar circumstance.
Darrel aa7fv is showing similar path results with receiving on 40m SN WSPR.
In 2019, we were hearing the East Coast on CW working EU, before we worked EUs.

The SN DX conditions are better in general the further in time (+/-) from the meridian.

Try listening just before 2024z, the current SN in Tucson. DX before 2024z wins the FT8 DX prize for 40m SN DX.

Or, try listening slight past 1824z, you might hear KH6 land and farther West on FT8.

Based on WSPR data by aa7fv during this time, and my personal observations, it is not looking good for 40m SN DX this Dec Solstice.

But, FT8 has the best bet right now, if you can at least hear something just after 1824z or just before 2024z.

If we can just get some lower solar indices in the next few days, it may still be possible on FT8 to squeak out an FT8 SN 40m DX QSO.

Thanks so much for trying.

Not much here. RBN heard me in WA and OR

Worked VE4CEL on FT8 @ 1918. Before me he worked an IK station, who I didn't see.
