At the next meeting, wear a coonskin hat.

I can attest that there are racoons in my area. I have a trail cam looking at the bottom of my tower. I get all kinds of animals passing by. One day I caught a video of a racoon nosing around the base of my tower and he then climbed it. I put an aluminum plate on the back side of the tower to keep him from climbing.

In the chase for TO9W QSOs I was derailed last night by a power outage. We are
on Trico Electric and had a widespread, many hours long outage. The cause? A
raccoon crawled into the substation.
I've been in Tucson for 75 years and haven't ever seen a raccoon in the valley
until a couple of weeks ago when I saw a dead one on the road in Saguaro NP West.
Interestingly, the same day I was loading some stuff in the car so I had the
door to the driveway open and came out of the house on one trip and had a little
critter in the garage. He practically climbed on my foot. At first thought it
appeared to be a baby coatimundi. I know those don't live here either, but
considering the raccoon I figured anything was possible. I scooted him into a
live trap I have and did some more research. Eventually identified him as a
ferret.
A canvas of the neighborhood revealed that the next door neighbor owned him and
didn't even know he was missing.
