[SADXA] Message from the President of SADXA

Well, we are still in a shut down for now from having any gatherings of our
members.  So, I have cancelled, of course, our meeting that is scheduled for
next month.  I am certainly pleased to hear so many active people on the
bands over the past few weeks.  The shut down across much of the country has
certainly brought out many people who have not been on the air for a very
long time, now seeing our shared hobby as an avenue to stay socially
connected over the airwaves. Today I talked to a ham on 20 meters who told
me  it was the first time he has been on the air in over 35 years!

 

So I encourage everyone to take advantage of the down time not only to stay
connected with your families, but to also keep the sparks going out over the
airwaves.  Be thankful that we share a hobby that provides a terrific
opportunity to keep you occupied during these troubled times.  I especially
appreciate those of you who continue to share with our members information
about your DX activities on the air.  Please keep those coming!

 

We will be exploring some options for some "on-the-air" or internet club
activities that members might use to keep us connected actively on the air
in the absence of being able to have face to face meetings for the next
month or so.  More information on than at a latter time as we explore those
opportunities.  We might even be able to arrange interesting internet
presentations for our members on DX related topics.

 

I hope that all of you will be safe and well in the coming days and weeks
dealing with the current virus situation.  And have fun on the air working
