Found a video made by a gal wearing a helmet cam on a tour of the focal platform in 2017, including inside the Gregorian dome (link below9).  It gives an idea of just how big the platform really was... it’s easy to think of it as a little triangular spider truss, like you might find holding the scoreboard and speakers at a large sports arena. It was more like the whole arena roof...

Turns out they were flying a drone at the top of the 4:00 tower the moment the cable snapped! First footage is from the ground, then the drone:
