SADXA Members: Friends of Dec Solstice SOLAR NOON 40m DX
Note: Tucson Solar Noon on 11/23 in Tucson is 1910z (12:10pm)
I suggest there are two Solar Noon categories: Heard and the Coveted Worked
near Solar Noon!!
As I see it NOW, Wes N7WS is on the leader board in terms of 40m DX reported
heard near Solar Noon. Someone with a Beam may have been able to work.
He heard IR2Q 7056.4 @2034z (1:34pm), or at 1Hr and 24 min after Solar Noon.
We have another 30 days to go before Dec. 21! Things are looking UP!! Thanks
for your report Wes!
Wes is using a 40m inverted V. This supports the idea you do NOT need a beam
to at least hear the Solar Noon DX. I think some dipoles and verticals will
yield a QSO.
WES'S HEARD LOG 11/23
IR2Q 7056.4 @2034Z (SN + 1:24 Hours)
IR4M is 579 on 7034.5 @ 2104Z (SN + 2:06 Hours)
IB9T on 7073 @ 2105Z. (SN + 2:05 Hours)
OM7M 7032.8 @ 2125Z (SN + 2:15 Hours)
I see a flurry of 40m Activity, and I hope everyone participates in this
upcoming 40m Day DX event, even if reporting HEARD @ near Solar Noon.
We have about a 2 Mo. Window of FUN on 40m DAY DX, peaking on Dec. 21st.
Somebody needs to break the SN < 1 Hr barrier for 40m DX Heard and Worked.
I have never worked a 40m DX Station near or at Solar Noon (+/- 1 Hr). Now
is everyone's opportunity. Wes has already shown us the feasibility, and its
only going to get better.
GO FOR IT!!
Thanks to all for participating, and I encourage all to give 40m DAY DX a
try. No need to burn the midnight oil!!
