RE: 1A0C
GRAYLINE AND 40m DAY DX
I think Jim (W9FI) correctly pointed out that there was an ideal Grayline
between Tucson and Rome centered at about 0320z 7/20 UTC. Tucson SS was
about 0230z, and Rome SR was about 0352z.
I would like to further point out that Carl KB7AZ got the 1A0C 40m DAY DX
award, because his 9:36pm (0436z) QSO was 45 min after 1A0C's SUNRISE. This
qualifies as DAYTIME DX for 1A0C.
Also, a purist would say that Carl's propagation was NOT Grayline, since the
END of Tucson's Astronomical Twilight Zone was at about 9:04pm, or 0404z.
I suspect Tucson to Rome propagation on 40m may have lasted a bit later than
the time of Carl's QSO, as 1A0C could have DAY DX propagation back into the
"dark" for at least another 1.5 hours.
Did anyone perhaps log or hear how long 1A0C lasted or was detectable on
40m?
Perhaps someone else in the group work 1A0C later on at Tucson night, and
would take Carl's coveted award?
Nice 40m Observations and DX.

FB, Alan. They're scheduled to finish tomorrow, so now was a good time
to get them.
As with many similar operations, they didn't say whether tomorrow would
be the last day of operations, or if tomorrow was the " pack up and
leave" day.
