Larry,

Are you looking for just a printer, or an "all in one", or what??? It
matters!

I've used several over the years, and with varying results. Right now I
have an Epson (my 2nd one), and I'm NOT impressed! I wasn't that impressed
with the first one either, but this one had those big tanks, and I thought
it would be a good feature and cheaper to operate. Well, the color is
lousy!

I've usually had very good copy results from both Canons and HP's. With
those two brands it is all about speed and features. Some are great, but
slower than I like. My very favorite printer, if you can get by without
color, is a Brother laser. Very fast, and great BW copies. They are also
much cheaper to use. Color ink is outrageously expensive for most printers,
and it gets used up quickly.

Go to Consumer Reports if you can. They always give really good advice on
buying things. Last I saw they were recommending a Brother HL2395DW if you
want a laser all in one, and a Brother MFC J895DW color ink jet. A Canon is
right behind this last one. The "DW" is a designation for "wireless", and I
find that to be very handy.

Good luck.

I'm looking for a new printer for the shack. No tel number so FAX isn't
an issue. Mainly WI-FI access, copy, color and any other usual items.
So darned many of them out there, who knows what they are or how
reliable they are. Lots of them well below $100 as well. H-P is out,
Brother is marginal but Epson looks fairly cheap as far as cartridges
go. How about Canon? Walmart is good place to buy cause returns are
easily done and no hassle like lots of stores. Just not the selection
available.

Any opinions? Want excellent print quality but at a decent price. HP
soaks you for their printer carts and never did get the page count they
specified per cart. Same with Brother.
