[SADXA] Temporarily QRT

Just a half-inch of rain here New Year eve and morning.  We looked up at the 
snow on Wasson Peak yesterday and decided to do one of our favorite hikes, the 
Sendero Esperanza Trail up to the saddle where four trails to Wasson join, to 
play in the snow.   When we left the house it was still cloudy up there and we 
expected to get into some decent snow.  But when we got to the trail head it was 
almost 11 AM.  It was still bitterly cold (for we desert rats) and we were 
really layered up. The view up the mountain was still very wintry,

The first 0.7 mile is relatively flat and as we went the sun came out and we 
started pealing off layers.  There was still a little snow on some of the 
vegetation but it was rapidly melting.  Quite the incongruity to see 
Brittlebush, in the dead of winter in full bloom after the recent rain and warn 
temperatures, now covered in snow.

The next mile is switchbacks with about 600 feet elevation gain.  Even though we 
were nominally on the north slope the snow was melting as fast as we were 
climbing and we were hoping for cloud cover.  By the time we reached the saddle 
we were in full sun and for the most part the snow was gone.  I pealed off 
everything except my black polyester mesh undershirt which was drenched in sweat 
and let the warm sun dry it out.  We headed down and almost immediately were 
putting the layers back on as we got into shade.  We were actually cold again as 
we lost altitude.  I think all of the cold air was running down hill.

We came home without ever throwing a snowball.
