Great Wes
-- I want to thank you for trying.
2017z is the current past SN threshold - but you were close with your EW7LO
observation. I know you have that QSO, but NOT AT SN, so GO FOR IT! Hi Hi
With the LZ1EV DX @2002z, I can now say I HAVE HEARD 40m DX WITHIN 1 Hr. of
SN IN TUCSON, and its not some crazy dream!! Hi HI
I never heard the LZ1EV station calling CQ. He had a continuous pile up when
I heard him. In this case, CW skimmers would not report.
THUS I can NOW state 40m DX at SN +/- 1 Hr is possible for Stations in
Tucson.
I was concerned we were too far south to participate in the ideal Dec
solstice conditions. But it NOW looks like we can.
We have 8 days to go, for the absolute best case scenario. I hope many of us
can start discussing who's 40m DX QSO is actually closest to SN before end
of year!!
I think tomorrow may be even better, since it is the weekend with more
stations active. Christmas time should be even better for the chase.
Somebody in our group is likely to achieve this goal before year end. But
who, and how many??
Tomorrow I plan to call what I hear to get out of the listening mode, and
put a real check mark on 40m SN DX QSO. QSL CARD would be nice.
73's

I'm hearing (weakly) EW7LO on 7008 @ 2057Z Probably too weak to work, but I
have it already.
