Dennis, I was copying them at -11.  They don't transmit CQs that often.  
It looks like they call a CQ, gather a bunch of calls, and then work 
them one or two at a time.  I got through by responding to one of their 
CQs about six times in succession.  Once they picked me up, the 
automatic features of the software took over. At first I wasn't sure 
what was going on, but observing the QSOs ahead of me gave me some sense 
of what was happening on this new mode.

The sequence seems to be:

. They call CQ every few minutes.

. You respond to them over and over, ignoring their QSOs with the other 
callers.

. Eventually your turn comes up. They call you, your computer responds 
with a signal strength report (R -11), and they finish with an RR73.  
Then your own control software asks whether or not to log the QSO. Press 
the radio button and the QSO sequence has been completed.
