[SADXA] DX VERTICAL ANTENNAS

Hi Richard:
It depends some on where the station is located that defines what
antennas one has to use, or chooses to use. Anymore with CCRs and Local
housing lots being small as well as Zoning the room to put up a big
tower is quiet limited and the vertical becomes the antenna of choice.
Where there is ample space verticals are far less popular and towers
with Yagis seem to rule. On the lower frequencies space to put up a
directional antenna becomes very hard and a vertical ends up being the
choice. Verticals of course given the proper installation and tuning
are a good radiator for long haul contacts, DX. Gap antennas don't seem
to get the advertising other brands get and may be the reason they seem
to be less popular.
From personal experience, if you have the room and want better
results, in chasing DX, put up a Yagi as high as you can reasonably get it.
