Fellow DXers,
I have two seats available on my airplane for the Yuma Hamfest and two for
the International DX Convention in Visalia. It is a six-seat plane so there
is lots of room. I generally plan on four, but the plane can take up to five
adults (including me) if a lot of people want to go.
Yuma Schedule: Depart Ryan Airfield around 8:00 am on Friday, February 17.
Return on Sunday, February 19 after a leisurely breakfast. Randy Malic and I
are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. Randy is getting a car and will take
people to different hotels so you would not have to stay at the same hotel.
The flight time is about one hour and 35 minutes. I can stop in Casa Grande,
Chandler, or Gila Bend to pick up or drop off people from the Phoenix area.
Visalia Schedule: Depart Ryan Airfield around 8:00 am on Thursday, April 20.
The plan is to make one stop for leg-stretching. The total flying time is a
bit over four hours. The return trip is on Sunday, April 23 after the DX
breakfast. Jim and I are staying at the Lamp Liter Inn. I can stop in Casa
Grande, Chandler, or Buckeye to pick up or drop off people from the Phoenix
area.
The cost is 1/Nth of the total operating costs for fuel and parking, where N
is the number of people on the plane including me. With four people Yuma
plan on about $75 and Visalia approximately $160 per person.
If you want to go on either of these trips, please let me know soon. Include
your weight. I will assume 20 pounds of luggage per person. With four people
the plane will easily handle several transceivers and legal limit amplifiers
on the return trip.
