Thanks for your offer to pay for it, Joe.  I'm going to wait a couple of 
weeks before I buy one.  Someone still may be able to come up with a 
donation out of their junk box.

Regarding the computer, the club's laptop is a Windows 7 machine and 
it's perfectly useful to display presentations and run DVDs. It's just 
that sometimes it fails to start up with the internal mouse driver.  A 
reboot or two generally solves the problem, but meanwhile everybody is 
waiting for the equipment to run properly. In testing the PC at home, 
it's never failed to work properly when it's using the USB mouse that I 
borrowed from my own personal computer.  So thanks for your offer to 
donate a Win8 machine, but I think the problem will be inexpensively 
solved with just an external mouse.  If I don't hear from somebody by 
mid-October I'll go out and buy one.
