[SADXA] More Info on VK0EK

Jim,
VK0EK at 9:20pm is much weaker on 10116 kHz -- less than S1 (S9=50uV) on my
3 ele Yagi, but still Q5 above noise level. I verified Short Path only
propagation. I have a very low noise level with Beam pointed at 186 deg.
(Still audible at 10:15pm (5:15 UTC) - now calling CQ).
In summary, I believe the grayline effect was being observed this evening,
as Ray W2RS noted this morning. The grayline is almost 90 degrees to the
equator right now [Vernal Equinox], and North/South propagation is ideal
along this N/S line. VK0EK and Tucson are close to being on this N/S
grayline at this time of year.
Going to listen and document tomorrow morning's and tomorrow evening's
grayline S meter reading vs time, and hopefully work VK0EK at the peak. Be
interesting to note which of the two peaks are the greatest.
An exciting prospect, is this effect might be much more pronounce on 20m
and 17m, once VK0EK gets the HF antennas online. The added path gain is
more likely to allow strong signals during the grayline propagation.
I predict that we are likely to see good propagation to VK0EK -- twice a
day on the grayline path, as we did today on 30m. Be interesting to compare
these grayline signals to those at other times of day, and on other bands.

They are S4 Q5 on my Yagi.. on 10116 at 8pm.. Short Path.. not LP.
Not going to try call now, but will tomorrow.. Go Ducks!!
I'll check after game.

Bill, I'll try LP on the bands where I have a directional antenna. But
for me it looks like I'll have to wait for them to move to the other QTH.
