Well, you picked up a new one on 160 so it was a productive night. I
gave up on them on 30m around 9:00 PM, since the pileup was too big. I
could hear many hundreds calling, so imagine what they heard on their
side. 80m was pretty dormant at that time as well. So I got some
sleep, woke up around 3:00 AM and heard them booming in on 80m. I could
only hear about 20 stations calling, so I found the JA pileup frequency
and trusted the propagation path to put my signal above them. It worked.
Now I move on to VP8STI. I have three QSOs on 17m and 20m in the log,
but I especially want them on the lower bands. Late tonight and early
tomorrow morning I'll be looking for them on 30, 40, and 80. My 80m
dipole is deaf on 160, so I'm not going to concern myself with that
band. Maybe next year. This year I'm after my DXCC on 30 and 80, and
to get even closer to the Honor Roll. With the South Sandwich ATNO in
the bag there are just two more to go.
See you at the club meeting.
Jim
