But they wouldn't get another 3 dB. Remember this is a multi-transmitter
environment and the SPE could only deliver reasonable IMD at 1 KW PEP. And
they're cheating even at this, IMHO. The way manufactures cheat (Elecraft
does it too) is to measure IMD products with respect to PEP instead of one
tone of the two, like any military or commercial product manufacturer would
do.
I know you've already seen the critique of SPE's test method. Elecraft's was
a little better; they at least used two separate transmitters for the two
tones instead of one. Surprisingly, however, one of them was a Yaesu. Go
figure.
