Earlier today (1700Z) I talked at some length to Herb operating N7C on 40M. He
mentioned the difficulty of operating from the Code Talkers Memorial Park due to
the surrounding cliffs and wished he could have a remote base operation next
year. He asked me whether I had any expertise in this area and I offered that I
did not, but I was in two clubs (CADXA and SADXA), where there were surely guys
with the know how and I would bring it up. Consider it brought up.

He has a sister who lives a short distance away from the park and he would like
to put up some more effective antennas there that are not allowed in the park
(sound familiar). Internet is out of the question so this would have to be an
RF-linked system. He has an FT1000 and FT847. I'm unfamiliar with these but
imagine they aren't the best choice for something like this.

If I was to go, which sounds like a fun thing to do, I have an Elecraft K3 and a
K3S that should be much better.

As a pot sweetener, Herb allowed as how in thanks for any assistance, he could
possibly lead a tour of the surrounding area or assist any interested SOTA guys
in getting permission to operate from a couple of otherwise inaccessible peaks.

This sounds like a little adventure. Anyone else interested?

ps. Herb is the son of one of the WWII Navajo Code Talkers.
