I'm in a situation to that of a few nights ago.  VK0EK is copyable only 
LP, at about a 10 - 15 degree heading.  I'm too close to the Catalinas 
to hear him well enough to call him.  I'm only getting about a 25% copy 
on his signal and am missing most of the calls he's sending.

But if you're further away from the mountains than I am, you might be 
able to copy him well enough to put in a call or two.  There's a small 
pileup about 1 to 5 KHz below his frequency.  The DQRM s not too bad at 
the moment.
