I suppose this is something I should know but so far have not been able to find a definitive answer on line.
My Heath SB220 uses 200 mfd X 450 DCV capacitors that are 1.25 “ diameter by 4 “ long. As a replacement I was offered a capacitor of the same mfd and voltage rating but in a package of 3/4 inch by about 1.25 inched length.
There must be some reason for using the larger size capacitor but I can’t explain why. I assume it may have to do with the amount of current that is being sent through the device.
Any expert advice to share? 73 Tom NQ7R
