Good news (well, as good as can be expected). 

 

I visited Wally in the ICU today for about an hour this afternoon. I left
during the third quarter of the Bears vs. Chargers game. He liked the fact
that the Bears were winning, but didn't gloat because he knew that I grew up
in San Diego - very considerate of him. He seemed to be feeling much better,
was his usual self, and was in good spirits. He enjoys and appreciates
visitors, and he can take phone calls. Wally will probably move from an ICU
to a room sometime tomorrow (Monday), and discharged sometime this week.
When he leaves the hospital, one of his sisters will take him to Chandler to
stay with her for a week so he is not in a home by himself. Wally may need
bypass surgery when he is a bit stronger, but right now he is on medication
to help with his heart function. He has had conversations with a dietician
and will probably make a few changes.

Subject: Wally KB7GAI - Bad News

 

Wally is in ICU at Northwest Medical Center. La Cholla and Orange grove. I
took him to Urgent Care Thursday AM and they called an ambulance from there
and took him over to the hospital. EKG looked bad.

 

Tests showed blockages and he's going to need bypass surgery. This may
happen soon but and they want to get him stronger  but on the other hand
they can't wait too long as another attack could really mess things up. The
surgeon will decide in the next couple of days.

 

I made some calls and his sisters and brothers in law are now here. 

 

He's awake and alert and not in any pain except for all the needles and
hoses. He can have visitors
