Thanks to the efforts of Owen, Ed, June, Steve*2, Randy, Rick, Don, and others,
significant progress was made for this coming weekend's Field Day exercise at
Twelve Toes. Having visited the site myself, I can say that the temperature cools
off nicely in the evening, great views of the desert in all directions. The
reddish orange moonrise over the eastern mountains was a nice surprise.

5 stations inside, 2 phone, 2 CW and the VHF/UHF station. One phone station in
Steve AK8E's trailer. A separate email will be sent to station captains to follow
up on final prep & operations. Astronomically speaking (read educational
activity), we'll have at least one telescope both Fri & Sat nights starting
around 8pm. The plan is to finish setup Friday, we still need over 200ft of coax
to optimize the antenna farm.

Rick is setting up a nice food prep area, and the front porch will have seating
for the first couple dozen visitors at meal time. Due to temperature
fluctuations, breakfast will be early, dinner will be late.

Visitors, please bring your own chairs, and flashlights or other lighting for
your own safety. It's pretty dark out there!

We can also use some flagging tape to ensure safety in an environment where
surface-mounted heavy metal guy anchors abound.

Our intention is to take the lack of Mt Lemmon and make lemmonade out of it, have
a FINE time doing Field Day in the desert, and still placing FIRST in the FUN
category!

We, again, need to get an idea of participation so we can make plans for parking,
food, etc. PLEASE take the time NOW to take our Field Day Participation Survey,
