Mike (KC9ORD) and I went to Yuma Friday morning and returned today. I
thought the Friday
crowd was small and the number of tail-gaters limited. I think we get more
at the Ajo fests,
but I only have a sample of one for Yuma.
On Friday, the fly-boys were out in force, and let me tell you, a Harrier
flying by overhead at
low altitude is one ear piercing screaming machine.
On Saturday, they limited the flights, but since the sky's opened up and the
Vasser came down from
Himmel in buckets, it wasn't much help. The Tail-Gaters fled and the main
Exhibit Hall was in
darkness. Something about a power outage.
The return trip on Saturday was a challenge. High winds, lots off blowing
dust, 0 - 0 conditions a
couple of times that really produced a pucker (you want an 18 wheeler behind
you who is doing 65
and is BLIND !!).
Well, as we used to say in Boston, ..."wait till next year"...
