Interested parties in Southern Arizona are welcome to join like-minded
folk at the Catalina Radio Club Field Day, at Bear Wallow, Mt Bigelow,
Santa Catalina Mountains.

Come on up and join us on Mt. Bigelow for Field Day! Whether it be for an
hour (dinner ~5pm Sat) or the entire weekend, all are welcome! Come
operate or just ragchew & enjoy the cool(er) weather! Follow the Field
Day links on w7sa.org for more information and directions.

Hey Y'all!!

The Catalina Radio Club is once again going to the mountain!! Field Day
2010 is coming up! Plan to join the winning team (first place in the fun
category) at our usual Bear Wallow campsite up on COOL!! Mt. Bigelow and
bring your family. The turnoff from Mt. Lemmon Highway is at Milepost 21,
about a mile past the Palisades Ranger Station. A map is on the CRC
website at http://www.w7sa.org/.

We start setting up Friday, 25 June, and go through Sunday afternoon. Come
up early to camp and claim the campgrounds. The Field Day exercise is 11AM
Saturday through 11 AM Sunday. We will be using the CRC 2M repeater output
frequency (147.39MHz simplex) for talk-in and site coordination. Get out
of the Tucson heat! The mountain top is always 20F to 30F cooler than
Tucson proper.

Again this year, June KE7JJU is planning GeoCaching, pine-cone
mobile making, and other kid-friendly outdoor crafts for the younger set.
Bring the kids!! Also in the works is a demo at the Palisades Ranger
Station Saturday morning on tree-rings, how the tree coring tool works, and
everything else tree-ring oriented. Adults and kids are invited!
Carpooling is encouraged.

Fun for the amateur radio operators includes demos of CW Skimmer and
Satellite QSOs!

We are having our annual CRC potluck dinner Saturday afternoon around 5:00
PM. The club is providing the entree (burgers, hotdogs, veggie
burgers...not yet decided...any ideas?) and bottled water and soda. Bring
up a salad, beans, dessert, chips and dip, etc. Get creative!! Everything
is welcome AND will be consumed. Please bring plates and eating tools.
Bring your own table if you have one! Chairs, too! Pack up the family and
treat them to a wonderful culinary treat in the cool Catalina mountains.

The CRC is also providing a Gotta Go Station for everyone to operate this
year!! (Read that as a Porta-Pottie.)

We will be operating four or six stations around the clock, or so. We need
operators and loggers. Call the CRC FD Chairman, Gary Keck KE7DX, if you
have a favorite time to operate. No license is needed. Come up and try
contesting in a no-stress, fun atmosphere. The "Get On The
Air" station is for visitors, newbie hams, and inactive oldies, operating
with a mentor available. No experience needed!!

I have sent letters to the local papers and major TV stations inviting them
over to do a story on this fun time. Want to be on TV?? Film at 10?? We
got about two minutes on KVOA several years ago. Come on up!!
