I worked it a bit last night. Made abt 150 QSO's, Jerry I heard you on.
You are right, 40 was really good, I logged something like 60 countries last
night on 40 plus a few more on all the other bands, even 10 was open a
little.
Also worked it for 20 minutes around 8:00 this morning before leaving and
condx were very very VERY good, I hated to leave but had to take my youngest
to his Cub Scout Pinewood Derby (which was worth it!), then to the office
and taxes all afternoon so far. I'm hoping to get back on tonight and make
a few more Q's.
Hope everyone gets on at least a little, all you need to send them is "5NN
AZ" and you are in the log!
73,
Keith KR7RK

Well yes that is a problem on SSB. My voice goes after a while or I get a
sore throat from all the screaming.
On CW that is pretty easy. Its about like playing the same song over and
over on the piano. The only time I use the key is when someone says HI or
when I need to slow down for someone.
I am sitting here listening to some 5 work the contest on 40 and starting to
hear very faint Euros already.
It was fun this morning seeing how many of the those JAs were running 5
watts. One guy was running 4 watts. Not bad signal either.
Time to get a keyboard setup up Wes.

Part of my problem on CW is I don't have keyboard keying. So I have to use
either the memory keyer or the paddle and then tab through the log entry to
enter the exchange and then log the Q. PITA.
If I do a bigger effort on SSB I'll have to have to use sound card messages;
I lost my voice running "live" on Field Day or I would have had a much
bigger score.

Well 100 Qs isnt all that bad. Everyone has to start some place and that is
pretty good. Do it very often and you could get hooked and miss all that
sleep like I did last night :-)
The BIG SSB one is coming up in a month or so, and this test should have
gotten you prepped. Also there is a SSB 160 contest coming next weekend and
that is a real sleep killer. Lots of opportunity in the next month or so to
run up a big score.
Jerry
